I came on to this job initially for 10 days to do some “photocomposition” 7.5 months later I left. Initially I had to photograph and patch together the original wall at the Greenwich Maritime Museum as we were building it on set. Upon the set being drawn, we realized we needed to add a lot more width to the mural. About 35-40% from my rusty memory. So I stitched the wall in PSD and then added in elements to create the art we needed. One of the gags they wanted was to paint our real actor playing the king (the late brilliant Richard Griffiths) so I photographed him, Spoke to Penny Rose about what his Costume would be as as per normal they hadn’t finished designing it, so I took their fabric samples and trims, the historical reference and set to work painting him into the door, from which he would then walk out.

The other walls I had to basically start from scratch. I had some reference or their ornate detailing but had to paint  up these illustrations from scratch. I took the elevations and started to block out the architectural elements with basic lighting and molding details. I then took that framework to Photoshop and painted in the depth, textures and lighting

These drops were huge. They were between 25’. once paneled out for production, The final finished printed wallpaper was then gone over with a paint brush to add a slight of hand with highlights and slight of hand by the scenic.
